BUCKINGHAM, Pa. — A call threatening a shooting sent Central Bucks High School East into a lockdown Friday afternoon.
Buckingham police said the call in a distorted voice was received by the school nurse's office around 1:30 p.m. demanding a cash ransom to stop a shooting. The school on Holicong Road and adjacent Holicong Middle School were placed on lockdowns at 1:45 p.m. while the buildings were secured.
Officers from Newtown Township, Solebury Township, Plumstead Township, Warwick Township, and Central Bucks Regional all assisted Buckingham police.

The lockdown was lifted for both schools around 2:10 p.m. and a "modified dismissal" was implemented. Classes usually end at 2:30 p.m.
An investigation is ongoing into the origin of the call.
"We followed our procedures for an incident like this, and again, we are grateful to everyone who responded, and remained calm under pressure, including our staff," the district wrote on its Facebook page.
East has an enrollment of 1,340 students from Buckingham Township, Chalfont Borough, Doylestown Borough, Doylestown Township, New Britain Borough, New Britain Township, Plumstead Township, Warrington Township and Warwick Township in grades 10-12, according to the district.
