DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH — Damage from a fire at the building housing the Doylestown Historical Society was kept to a minimum early Thursday.
Flames were visible from the left side of the building known as the 1820 Magill School House on South Main Street in Doylestown Borough as firefighters arrived, according to Doylestown Fire Company #1 prompting a call for assistance.

Society board chair Ron Strouse thanked firefighters for their quick action in a video that showed broken windows and some fire damage. He said the fire was limited to display space and museum space in the front of the building.
No historical artifacts were damaged by the fire, according to Strouse.
"We want to let you know that the historical society stands strong. We will meet tomorrow as a Board to consider our future moves to restore the work in the building and to move forward," Strouse wrote in a message on Facebook.ouse
Strouse said the society's board will meet Friday morning to determine its next steps.
The society's mission is to preserve and celebrate "the historic significance of Doylestown and its neighboring communities."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
