A motorcyclist from Bucks County died following a wrong-way crash on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Sunday morning, according to Lehigh Valley coroner Daniel A. Buglio.

A 50-year-old man from Bristol was riding in the northbound lanes with a group of five other motorcyclists in the northbound lanes near the Lehigh Tunnel around 10:10 a.m. He was hit by a car traveling south in the northbound lanes, according to Buglio.

Private grieving

Buglio said he will release the identity of the victim after an autopsy is completed Monday to allow the man's family to grieve privately.

The crash is under investigation by the coroner's office, Pennsylvania State Police and the Lehigh Valley District Attorney's Office. They have not disclosed details about the crash.
