BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A longtime police officer and school security chief was charged with the possession of child sexual assault material that goes back 20 years.
David Jayne, 63, was taken into custody Friday by Bristol police at his home on Granite Road in the Levittown section of Bristol Township after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children earlier in the week. He also charged with dissemination of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility. Additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
No known school district victims identified
Chief C.J. Winik said Jayne was a Bristol police officer between 1989 and 2000. He then worked for the Bristol Township school district until his retirement, according to Winik. Jayne was the Chief of School Police/District Security, according to his Linkedin
“This is a deeply disturbing investigation, and there is no place for this in our society,” Winik said. “We will continue to be thorough in our investigations into crimes such as these.”
The chief said that it does not appear any of the images were of Bristol Township children.
Winik asked anyone with information related to the case to call 215-785-4040.
