Trump takes Bucks County on road to PA presidential win
Pennsylvania Republicans led by Bucks Conty pushed Donald Trump towards a second term with a slim victory over Democrat Kamala Harris in Tuesday's election.
With 96% of the votes counted statewide Trump beat Harris 50%-48%. The Republican took Bucks County by nearly the same margin, 51%-48%. The Associated Press has called the race for Trump giving him the state's 19 electoral college votes.
As of 6 a.m. Trump had 277 of the 270 required electoral college votes, according to the AP giving him the win. Trump claimed victory in a 2 a.m. speech from his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida. Harris won’t speak until morning
“Every citizen, I will fight for you, for your family and your future," Trump said, adding that he was going to make people “very happy” and “very proud” of their vote.
“We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly,” Trump said. “We’re going to fix our borders. We’re going to fix everything about our country," Trump said.
Republicans also may get an upset win in the U.S. Senate race with Dave McCormick with a razor thin 49%-48% lead over incumbent Democrat Robert Casey. The AP has not yet called a winner in the race.
Brian Fitzpatrick will return to Congress with a win over Democrat Ashley Ehasz 58%-42%. It is the second election in a row that Fitzpatrick has topped Ehasz.
"As we move forward together into the 119th Congress and beyond, I’m asking all in our community to join me in leading our People’s Movement of bipartisanship and center-forward problem solving, and fighting against the bigotry of hyper-partisanship and extremist ideological purity that is dividing our community and destroying our nation," said in a statement claiming victory.
