
Community reflects on Ed Margavich’s legacy in fire service

CROYDON, Pa. — A Bucks County fire company is mourning its first member to lose their life in the life of duty.
The Third District Volunteer Fire Company of Croydon said former Station 14 chief and current fire police captain Ed Margavich died Friday from injuries suffered during a house fire on Cedar Avenue on Aug 8. Fire Chief Howard McGoldrick told the Bucks County Courier Times the fire was caused by arson.
The chief, who said he is Margavich's nephew, told the Courier Times he required emergency surgery after fell and broke his thigh bone in two places during the fire. He initially radioed that he broke his leg.
"Ed joined our organization in 1960. He was known for his kindness, wisdom, and the infectious laughter that brightened our meetings. His spirit will be missed by all," 3DVFC Station 14 wrote on its Facebook page.

Condolences from other fire companies
Many fire companies extended their condolences about Margavich's death including the Bucks County Rescue Squad, Edgely, Hilltown, Tullytown
"Ed Margavich dedicated most of his life to protecting our community, and died keeping us safe. He was a tremendous man and a good friend of our office. Ed will be greatly missed, but never forgotten," Rep. Tina Davis, D-Bucks, wrote on her Facebook page.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
