WARMINSTER, Pa — A Phoenixville police officer was killed after attending a funeral in Bucks County for a fallen officer.
Officer Arthur "Art" Scena was struck Sunday night on Street Road at St. Davids Avenue in Warminster, Phoenixville Mayor Peter Urscheler told NBC Philadelphia. He was leaving the funeral when he was struck, according to friend Michael Gray who has organized a GoFundMe campaign for his wife and two daughters.
Warminster police did not disclose the circumstances of the crash or if any arrests had been made.
"In this difficult time, we are coming together to support Amanda, Riley, and Reese," Gray wrote on the campaign page. "The Scena family is forever grateful for the overwhelming community and brotherhood that surrounds them. Your kindness and compassion have provided not just financial support, but also hope and strength during this challenging time."
According to Phoenixville police, Scena was born in Abington and was raised in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Cheltenham High School, Montgomery County Community College, and attended the Montgomery County Police Academy in 2010.
Gray said Scena was also a member of the Bullet’s Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club which organized memorial rides for members of law enforcement that lost their lives.
