NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa — A Bucks County neighborhood sheltered in place Sunday morning less than a day after a triple shooting in Falls Township left three dead.

Newtown Township police put the Headley Trace development into lockdown just after 8 a.m. due to "police activity" and advised traffic to avoid the area. .

Police chief John Hearn said a call was received around 7:40 a.m. from a woman on Independence Place who said she had been physically assaulted by a man with a handgun. Police evacuated neighboring homes and called in the South Central Emergency Response Team.

Armed members of the team were in place around the complex, according to photos posted by NewtownPANow.com.

The man was taken into custody around 10 a.m., according to Hearn. The woman was not injured. Hearn did not disclose the circumstances of the incident or the identities of those involved. Hearn said the man would be charged.

Fox Philadelphia's Steve Keeley reported it was a barricade situation involving a member of law enforcement

Services at the nearby Lutheran Church of God's Love were cancelled, according to the church's social media.

The Headley Development is located off Newtown-Yardley Road in Newtown Township.

Violent Saturday in Bucks County

Andre Gordon shot and killed his stepmother, Karen Gordon, 52, and sister Kera Gordon, 13, in Karen's Viewpoint Lane home in Levitttown Saturday morning, according to Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn.

He then drove to the home of the mother of his two children, Taylor Daniel, 25, where he shot her dead and bludonged her mother with an assault rifle.

After driving to Trenton in a vehicle Gordon carjacked and eluding police for several hours he was taken into custody late Saturday afternoon. He is being held at the Mercer County Jail pending a court appearance.
