🚨 A Jamison veterinarian and father jumped onto the rail

JAMISON, Pa. — A Bucks County veterinarian helped guide a boy off the monorail high above Hersheypark on Saturday.

Viral video shows the young boy who became separated from his parents walking back and forth on the single rail 100 feet above the park as a crowd shouted at him in an effort to guide him to safety. A man leaped onto a roof next to the rail, extended his arms and picked the boy up before carrying him to safety. The park says he was reunited with his parents and was unharmed.

The park in a statement said the boy had been reported missing before he was spotted on the monorail and made his way onto the rail through a station which was closed.

A father who saw a child in need

John Sampson of Jamison told 6 ABC Action News he was simply a father who saw a child in need and just wanted to help. He used a soothing voice to help the boy as if one of his own children was in trouble.

"I just think I'm a guy who, once again, right place, right time, saw a child in need and wanted to help," Sampson said.

Sampson told 6 ABC Action News he is a father of three. He is also the owner of the Richboro Veterinary Hospital.

The National Autisim Association on its Facebook page said they have learned the boy is autistic and displayed behavior consistent with “autism related wandering/elopement.” The boy was covering his ears which made efforts to talk him down difficult.

The group also thanked Sampson for helping to ensure the boy's safety.
