MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (Bucks) — The quiet of a Saturday night was rocked by a house explosion in Bucks County.
Middletown police said a house on Silver Spruce Road in the Snowball Gate development of Middletown Township caught fire and caused a "really loud explosion." A picture shows dark smoke rising from the home and the glow of a fire.
The residents were not home but three dogs inside were rescued, according to police.
'Giants flames engulfing the side of the house'
One person commenting on the department's Facebook page wrote that the flames were "huge" and "engulfed the entire house like a tinderbox." She was concerned the fire would spread to adjacent homes.
"The house across the street from me was a blaze, with giant flames engulfing the side of the house and spreading across the roof. It was just unreal," the commenter wrote.
Another neighbor wrote that they heard three explosions.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
