⚾ They fell to a team from Hawaii on Tuesday in the World Series Little League

⚾ The teams will be welcomed home in Newtown Township Wednesday

The Council Rock Newtown Blue Dawgs reached the end of their Little League World Series run with a loss to a team from Hawaii on Tuesday.

The Mid Atlantic champions were shutout Thursday in their first game of World Series tournament by the Southwest Region champs from Boerne, Texas. They stayed alive in the consolation round by beating the New England region champions from Salem, NH on Saturday and the Northwest champions from Puyallup, Washington on Sunday.

But Newtown met their match Tuesday in a loss to the west region champion Central East Maui team 3-1. Manager Brad Hamilton told PALivingNews.com that the team quickly rebounded from their loss. They're ready to go back to being 12-year-old boys instead of 12-year-old baseball players.

"There was never a sad moment about losing. We did exactly what we set out to do, which was make some noise and prove that we belonged on that stage and I think the boys represented themselves so well. I am very happy with the whole process and outcome," Hamilton said.

The team returns to Newtown Wednesday and will be welcomed home with a rally at Chandler Fields.

Hamilton said that the team is grateful for the support the team has received during their tournament play towards the World Series.

"I think it's a credit to the boys. I think people really enjoyed watching these boys compete," Hamilton said.

The Green Parrot in Newtown offered congratuations to the team on their Facebook page.

"Despite the loss today, it was a great ride in Williamsport! You’re winners in our eyes and we are proud of all your hard work and success," the restaurant wrote on their Facebook page.

"It’s been exciting to watch Council Rock Newtown Baseball in the Little League World Series! Thank you to the team for playing so hard and congratulations on making our community, Bucks County and Pennsylvania proud! Well done," state Rep Kristin Marcell, R-Bucks, wrote on her Facebook.

The team that defeated Council Rock has a story of their own. The Central East Maui team is from Maui, the Hawaiian island which was impacted by the Lahaina wildfires. The fire destroyed hundreds of homes and the Little League field, according to KHON TV.

Many of the families still recovering from the fire have relied on donations to afford the trip to Williamsport.
