
Dozens of cats found inside Bucks County storage unit

FALLS TOWNSHIP, Pa — 53 cats were found inside a storage unit and removed by the Bucks County SPCA and police.
The cats were found at the Public Storage facility on Commerce Boulevard in Fairless Hills located across the street from the Falls Township complex on Friday, according to the BCSPCA. Employees found the cats and kittens, some that were "visibly sick and seriously ill" inside "filthy cramped cages and carriers," according to the Bucks County SPCA who were notified by police.
Chief Humane Officer Nikki Thompson organized a rescue that brought in veternarians and BCSPCA staff to examine each feline and determine their condition. By the end of the day the cats were housed at the BCSPCA shelters in Lahaska and Quakertown. She did not disclose how the cats were found to be in the unit.
The staff at Public Service was also praised by Thompson for assisting her team with the rescue.

Cats brought to the unit?
Thompson initially believed that the cats, who are feral, were part of a hoarding and neglect situation but later said they may have brought to the unit from elsewhere.She did not disclose who may have brought the cats to the unit or why.
Some people whose cats are missing contacted the BCSPCA and included pictures of their cats in the comments of the in hopes their may have been in the unit.
None of the cats are microchipped and many are not neutered.
